About Red Stencil
Red Stencil is multi-instrumentalist songwriter Kar Stanton. Kar grew up in Scotland and now lives on the South Coast of England. She is part of The Burrow Bournemouth community.
Her debut single The Body Count was released in April 2015, and can be found on Bandcamp, ITunes, Spotify, Amazon and other online platforms.
Kar is currently working on two EPs for release in Summer 2016. The Protagonist EP is a synth and electric guitar driven alt-pop record. Released simultaneously, the What Remains EP is an acoustic record with stark production and unguarded lyrics. Kar's delicate Scottish vocals provide a unifying element of the twin records.

About New Year
Following a difficult few years where it seemed impossible to write anything but melancholy songs, Kar set herself a New Year's Resolution to 'write some happier songs'. She started writing the song on the 1st Jan 2015. A hopeful alt-pop song also marking Kar's joyful rediscovery of her electric guitar, the song is the first to be released from the Protagonist EP. It is released on the same day as the single In Sickness which is taken from the What Remains EP.

Lyrics
We're going out, we're going out
Oh we never go out anymore
We're dressing up, we're dressing up
Oh we never dress up anymore
But tonight, tonight,
you know we feel more alive
What the future holds, I don't know
And how the year unfolds, I don't know
So I will hold you close, for a moment
Tonight we live in hope,
There's a purpose to all of this
I'm cleaning out, I'm cleaning out
Cleaning out the clutter
I'm clearing out, I’m clearing out
Clearing out the old year
Cos tonight tonight
You know I feel more alive
And what the future holds, I don't know
And how the year unfolds, I don't know
So I will hold you close, for a moment
Tonight we live in hope,
There's a purpose to all of this
He knows, he knows how it goes
We're going out, we’re going out
Oh, we never go out anymore
He knows, he knows how it goes
